Obstetric Services

NHS Obstetrics

On the NHS at St George's Hospital, Mr Manyonda provides obstetric care for "high-risk" pregnancies.
This includes the following groups:
  • Women who already have diabetes.
  • Women who develop diabetes during pregnancy.
  • Women with auto-immune diseases such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis and other connective tissue disorders.
  • Women with raised blood pressure, or who develop raised blood pressure in pregnancy, or those with a past history of raised pressure in pregnancy including pre-eclampsia.
  • A variety of women with a poor previous obstetric history including those transferred from the Recurrent Miscarriage Clinic; those with previous intrauterine death; those emotionally traumatized by previous pregnancies; and those with other pre-existing medical disorders. Many of these women will be managed within a multi-disciplinary set up which involves other specialists including diabetic, renal, rheumatological or cardiac physicians, and cardiac surgeons. Where appropriate, some women are offered office appointments for pre-conceptual consultations, or joint consultations with other relevant specialists.
Patients are seen in the High Risk Obstetric Clinic upon referral by their General Practitioner or Consultant. We regret that self-referral patients are not accepted on this NHS service.

Private Obstetrics:
Mr Manyonda also provides a private obstetric care for both low and high -risk pregnancies. Antenatal clinics are held at the Parkside Hospital in Wimbledon, and St Anthony's Hospital in Cheam. All antenatal blood tests and ultrasound scans (the nuchal scan 12-14 weeks; the anomaly scan 20-22 weeks and any other scan) are performed at St George's Hospital in the Fetal Medicine Unit. Deliveries are conducted by Mr Manyonda on the Labour Ward at St George's Hospital.

Although prospective parents may self-refer, it is preferable that they be referred by their General Practitioner. For further details on packages and pricing, please contact Val, PA to Mr Manyonda: Tel/fax - 020 8947 9877;
